Using traditional Japanese polishing stones, tools, and time-honored conservation principles, each restoration is approached with the goal of preserving the sword—not merely improving its appearance.
My mission is simple:
To restore a blade’s dignity without altering its soul.
MY Philosophy
A working man has a wife, children, and bills to provide for. Yet the sword he has chosen to preserve should not be lost to corrosion simply because a museum-grade restoration is beyond his financial reach.
Every blade deserves care. My mission is to provide honest, conservation-focused restoration that preserves a sword’s dignity, character, and history at a price within reach of the everyday collector.
Not every sword requires a multi-thousand-dollar art polish, but every sword deserves the opportunity to be preserved for the next generation.

Sword Work
Isshin Kage Heiho-ke provides traditional, hand-guided sword work performed quietly and deliberately.
My services offered include:
- Sharpening (ha-mise)
- Polishing (togi)
- Restoration and conservation work
All work is performed carefully, respectfully, and by hand, with consideration for the blade’s history, purpose, and limitations.
Traditional Stones & Methods
Each blade is evaluated individually and polished entirely by hand using traditional Japanese polishing methods, authentic Japanese polishing stones, and premium Japanese synthetic waterstones where appropriate.
Depending on the blade and the level of restoration required, polishing progresses through multiple traditional stages using stones such as Kongō, Binsui, Kaisei, Chu-nagura, Koma-nagura, Uchigumori, and traditional finishing materials including Hazuya and Jizuya.
This process requires considerably more time and control than machine polishing while providing greater precision in preserving geometry, surface refinement, edge definition, and the blade’s original character.
Steel, once removed, can never be replaced. Whenever possible, material removal is kept to the absolute minimum necessary to preserve the life, geometry, and historical integrity of the blade.
